What is special about Katori Honey?

We source our honey from our network of farmer-cooperatives across India, who follow bee-friendly and sustainable bee-keeping practices and take utmost care for bees and their hives to bring you premium quality honey in its purest form. Every jar of Katori honey can be traced back to the bee-keeper. Our bee-keepers allow the bees to do their work naturally without trying to accelerate the process. No chemicals are added at any stage of the bee-keeping process. Therefore the honey you get in the jar, 100% raw, pure and natural, and laden with flavour and medicinal properties.

  5. Honey helps in balancing liver systems and neutralising toxins.

How many variants of honey are there?

Katori has five variants of honey – Eucalyptus, Multiflora, Sunflower, Tulsi & Ajwain and Mustard

  • Natural Eucalyptus Honey – Harvested from flowers of eucalyptus trees, Eucalyptus honey is medium-sweet with a strong earthy flavour, and undertones of menthol and caramel. There is no bitterness and a slight woody and medicinal aftertaste.
  • Natural Multiflora Honey – Our multifloral honey is a thick sweet syrup packed with nutrients from wild flowers. Rich in taste and aroma, every batch is unique, depending on the flowers the bees have fed on.
  • Natural Mustard Honey – Our natural mustard honey is harvested sustainably from chemical-free mustard fields. Mustard honey has a bright yellowish tinge, and is medium-sweet to taste, with a hint of acidity.
  • Natural Sunflower Honey – Our natural sunflower honey comes from chemical-free sunflower fields. It has medium sweetness, strong acidity and a short after taste. The honey is usually bright with a yellowish tinge.
  • Natural Tulsi & Ajwain Honey – Our tulsi and ajwain honey is harvested from the flowers of Tulsi (Holy Basil) and Ajwain (Trachyspermum) plants. This dark amber honey has a touch of sweetness from Ajwain and the delicate flavour of Holy Basil, and is laden with medicinal properties.

How are Katori honey produced?

Our beekeepers share our vision of ‘balanced bee-keeping’, and promote a bee-centred approach while caring for bees and their hives. We separate honey varieties by season and location, so the honey you get comes straight from the beehives, preserving the unique flavours and aroma of each flower nectar in the jar.

Step 1: To extract mono-flora honey, our bees migrate to a location where the flowering season of a particular flora has started.
Step 2: We set up wooden beehive boxes at the heart of the flowering field so that bees can make multiple visits to flowers until they get all the nectar and pollen out of it
Step 3: No artificial acceleration is induced in the honey collection or production process
Step 4: The honey produced naturally by bees by reducing the moisture content of the nectar to below 18%
Step 5: Freshly harvested honey is inverted into a food-grade steel barrel. Such naturally collected honey will have beeswax and traces of royal jelly, bee pollen, and propolis that enhances health benefits.
Step 6: The honey is bottled as is into smaller convenient sizes without processing and this is exactly what reaches you, with all nutrients intact!

Is Katori honey processed or pasteurised?

No. Our honey is only filtered,

Processed Vs Raw Katori Honey: What’s the better choice?

Processed honey is collected in large quantities from different regions and then pasteurised, filtered and treated with chemicals and flavours to make it uniform in appearance and taste. It does not have any unique characteristics and cannot be traced back to a single source or plant. Pasteurisation is a process that involves heating the honey over boiling point which alters its chemical composition and drastically reducing its nutritive value. So processed honey will always look the same every time you buy it.

Katori raw honey is harvested from chemical-free fields of our farmer-cooperatives and packed into jars straight from the bee-box, in its purest form. Such naturally collected honey will have beeswax and traces of royal jelly, bee pollen, and propolis that enhances health benefits. We promote ethical and sustainable bee-keeping practices to ensure that utmost care is taken for the health of the bees and the farms, so that the honey that reaches you is 100% pure and natural.
